DoT seeks TRAI’s views on the SUC to be levied for satellite service usage
February 25, 2014
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has approached the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for its recommendations regarding the spectrum usage charge (SUC) to be levied for commercial and captive usage of satellite services.
In addition, DoT has also sought TRAI’s views on pricing of spectrum in cases where it cannot be discovered through an auction. This criteria includes cases of non-commercial usage, captive usage by commercial entities and usage for social purposes, such as for providing community radio services. Currently, spectrum for these services is allocated at administrative prices.
